Expense Tracker for Uber, Lyft & DoorDash Drivers

Every mile. Every receipt. Schedule C-ready.

Rideshare and delivery drivers have more deductions than almost any other self-employed worker — and more documentation requirements. CentSense handles both: mileage logs that satisfy the IRS, AI receipt scanning, and a one-click Schedule C export.

Mileage: Your Largest Deduction

For most drivers, mileage is the biggest line item on their return. At $0.725/mile, every 1,000 business miles = $725 in deductions. A driver who logs 20,000 business miles saves $14,500 in deductions — before any other expenses.

What counts as business mileage:

  • Driving to the first pickup of the day (if you have a home office)
  • All trips while the app is on
  • Driving between pickups in the same session
  • Trips to the store to buy supplies for your delivery work

What doesn't count:

  • Your first drive from home if you have no home office
  • Personal errands mixed into a driving shift

The IRS requires four fields per trip: date, destination, business purpose, and miles driven. CentSense captures all four automatically.

Phone Deduction: How to Calculate It

You can deduct the business-use percentage of your monthly phone bill on Line 25. Here's how to calculate it:

  1. Track a 30-day sample period
  2. Count hours on the driving app vs. total phone use
  3. Apply that percentage to your annual phone bill

Example: $80/month × 12 months = $960/year × 75% business use = $720 deduction.

App Switching: Uber and DoorDash in the Same Year

If you drive for multiple platforms, your mileage log needs to be complete across all apps — not just one. Use CentSense's client projects to create separate projects for Uber and DoorDash income periods, so your expenses and mileage stay organized per platform.
